Biography
Monika Wulfers is a Berlin-born artist who lives and works in Chicago. She received a BA in Philosophy from North Central College
and an MFA with a concentration in painting from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she studied film under
Stan Brakhage and painting under
Ray Yoshida and
Theodore Halkin.
She was resident artist at Argonne National Laboratory from 1975 to 1982 and developed a significant body of work
in computer graphics. Her work with lines and numbers is represented in Portfolio I and II. Portfolio III, her work with water was
inspired by her life on an island in Lake Michigan.
Her work includes video and digital photography and has been shown in museums in the US, Austria, and Germany.
She is represented by FLATFILEgalleries in Chicago and Gallery Ten in Gills Rock, Wisconsin.
